EU De Minimis Removal + €3 Customs Duty Per Item
From July 1, 2026, the EU will remove the €150 de minimis duty exemption for all imports, please note that this includes even mail packages entering any EU country.
Therefore, according to the Council of the European Union, all low-value shipments will be subject to a mandatory €3 customs duty per declaration line. This means that this €3 customs duty will be charged on a per material used and is dependent on the tariffs imposed on the origin country (please see point 2). It is also important to note that this agreement is valid until July 2028 and might be revised into a permanent tariff from thereon.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
-
How does this affect you as an EU customer?
As of now, it seems like this €3 customs duty (which is a base price) must be paid upon delivery of your package and in November 2026 (which is not expected right now), another €2 customs handling fee is expected atop of this.
Please note that to save on shipping costs to you, all our packages are in DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) meaning we (the seller) bears all transport costs and risks while you (the buyer) is responsible for paying import duties and taxes. Therefore, in the unfortunate event that you reject to pay the customs and handling fee, your package will be returned or disposed of and no refunds can be issued. Please kindly be forewarned that we will not accept any chargebacks in this case.

How is this '€3 Customs Duty' calculated?
The levy is calculated per item or product by customs code, rather than per parcel, meaning multi-item consignments may incur multiple charges. This means one parcel with multiple items but under the same HS commodity code would only receive one €3 charge if the total value does not exceed €150.
Example:- A parcel contains 1 blouse made of silk and 2 blouses made of wool.
- Therefore, due to their different tariff sub-headings, the parcel contains two distinct items and €6 in customs duty should be paid.
- A parcel contains 1 blouse made of silk and 2 blouses made of wool.
First and foremost, it is significant to note that this is a relatively new charge hence nothing is certain and we can only rely on the guidelines to predict what is going to happen.
